I'm sure you've noticed the atrocious excuses for icons floating about...

For users, "silver" is forum admins (yep, they're coded as a seperate class for now, in case we ever need some additional help...), and "gold" is for members. For now, we're all both, though it's perfectly possible to be a member and not admin know why, but it doesn't hurt to have the functionality :P

For submissions, the "standard" parchment (yes, it's meant to be a piece of paper with writing on...) is for fiction, the "magnifying glass" (circle with a line :P), is reviews, and "brain" (grey blob), is editorials/tutorials.

I'll see if wanderer (the guy who did our logo) has enough time in his busy schedule for a few icons :P

Narainsbrain (May 18th, 2002, 8:58 am)

hmm, the standard parchment is passable, but i dont want a grey blob for a brain =p

i'll try my hand at some icons, as soon as i reinstall a graphics prog.

btw, ive been working on a html & css template for the site. muted blue colours to go with thewanderer's logo. i'll mail it to you, or maybe submit it to dA.

Sounds good...graphic stuff was never my forte...anybody who's willing to help can :P

html/css template

Narainsbrain (May 20th, 2002, 5:36 am)

well, i sent you the template to the address, did you get it? what do you think about it?

i dont have a graphics prog installed yet, so i cant make icons... but im downloading psp7 as fast as i can =)

html/css template

cruise (May 20th, 2002, 10:09 am)

I think it's a hell of a lot better than mine :P

hehe...I'll port it into my set up, and it should available as an option in your settings screen pretty soon...

It's so much better than mine that I've just replaced my crappy stuff with the new one.

I was having to rewrite too much of my html to fit to your design anyway :P

html/css template

Narainsbrain (May 20th, 2002, 1:29 pm)

im glad you like it! =)

hmm, that doesnt look like 10pt verdana, did you change some font-sizes?

html/css template

Narainsbrain (May 20th, 2002, 1:34 pm)

mm, i still see some bugs. like, the text of the prose runs right to the margin. i suggest making left and right padding values 1em, text-indent 1em. or if you you give me the option to upload stylesheets, i could take the whole hassle off your hands. im willing, though its more coding for you. =)

html/css template

cruise (May 20th, 2002, 2:03 pm)

There's no hard-coded font sizes...only percentages.

The only reason the font size would appear too big is if your font size in IE is set too big... :P

I see what you mean about the prose...hadn't noticed that...I'll fix it now :D

html/css template

Narainsbrain (May 21st, 2002, 11:55 am)

ah, i see about the fonts. cool! percentage font sizes is a good idea, wonder why i didnt think of that. =)

more css nitpicking...

Narainsbrain (May 21st, 2002, 12:30 pm)

do forums and other pages have different stylesheets? cause the submission text is smaller than the text here.

btw i really like how youve put the subjects into h1s, i could never notice them before =)

more css nitpicking...

cruise (May 23rd, 2002, 9:36 am)

Nope...all the same stylesheet. Maybe I've got the text wrapped in an "aditional" class somewhere...which is for "less important" text, and is slightly smaller.

Narainsbrain (August 1st, 2002, 1:37 pm)

hey cruise, you didn't like the other icons i sent you for the standard theme? i see you added the member icons, but apparently you like the submission icons you made a lot more than mine, cause they're still there... not that i'm saying you /must/ use my icons, but, well - what's wrong with them? ;)

cruise (August 2nd, 2002, 8:34 pm)

The only one I haven't used was the tutorial seemed unfinished, I think...a bit blocky and aliased...send it to me again to make sure it didn't get screwed up...eveything else I've replaced...

Narainsbrain (August 6th, 2002, 1:33 pm)

i think i should do some antialiasing on that one, maybe touch up the others too. they aren't that fantastic anyway =) but i don't have any graphics app installed on this (new) comp; i won't be doing any graphicry till i get my hands on photoshop seven *evil grin*
