Anybody else seen this?
If you haven't, rent it out immediately :P
It is one the most superbly made and executed films I have seen...subtle, intricate, with astounding action sequences (Mark Dacascos baby :D) and photography.
It's long, it's not very cheerful, but damn, it's good.

i've seen it twice on the big screen and it was absolutely amazing in every sense.

I much prefer it in the French. :) Harder to pronounce, but groovier IM(not so)HO. I even watched it subtitled. Actually, I saw it 2 and partial times.
I thought it was cool, but it could have been better. The fight scenes rank A+, especially the first one, and the red-headed actress, Emilie Dequenne - if my Palm notes serve me right - Is a major, major plus.
I can honestly say that I know of no American that can act that good and look so stunning.
My major dislike was the sex bits, and there were some funky story addends that seemed useless, like the gypsy girl who has seizures... Well, her whole part seemed to me to be overplayed. I thought she was important to the movie.
Agh, again I've hijaacked a thread. /leaves

Much prefer my stuff subbed. The advantage of DVD.
Yeah, the sex was kinda annoying, but I let it pass because important things happen or are said during those scenes, so it was /kinda/ necessary.
I can't really say what I think the point of the gypsy girl was without spoiling some of the story...perhaps it would be sufficient to say her and her father's role was largely for ironic effect...

What do you expect? It's a French film and European films are, for the most part, more open about sexual themes than American films. Anyhoo...it was a great movie! A bit twisted at times.., but Manni was..well..the man! I saw him as the ghost of Brandon Lee in The Crow series for the first time. He did most of the ass kicking of the movie. The curse of the favorite character continues. Wow this is an old thread I'm responding to. Oh well.....
