I don't know if you guys will find this as funny as I do, but maybe it will start a good discussion...

Number of Physicians in the U.S. : 700,000
Accidental deaths caused by Physicians each year : 120,000
Accidental deaths per Physician : 0.171 (U.S. Dep't of Health and Human S'v'c's)
Number of gun owners in the U.S. : 80,000,000
Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) : 1,500
Accidental deaths per gun owner : 0.0000188
Statistically, Doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
"Fact: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor."
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand. As a Public Health Measure, I have witheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock would cause people to seek medical aid.

Yup, I like :P
Especially the closing comment about the lawyers :D
However, if I can be boring and serious and ruin the joke for a second, the obvious counter is that doctors /save/ a hell of a lot of lives too (usually not by accident, admittedly), whihc more than counteracts the negative.
However, it probably is worth pointing out that there is no such obvious compensating benefit gained from lawyers...

Also, I think the statistics may be skewed in that they only count accidental gun deaths, not intentional ones -- after all, they're comparing the danger posed by gun owners and doctors, not anylizing the danger posed by guns. :)

That's... weird... but funny. Though I can't say I believe it, but the closing comments are cool!
