But it's general enough that I'll put it here anyway...

The Internet Top 100 SF/Fantasy Books. Very useful resource if ever you're short of reading material :P

Edit by Narain: Added URL tags. Why don't people remember to use these?

Right.... browsing through the list i noticed have stil alot of reading to do. Right now, i can mark as read: 2, 6, 7, 23, 27, 42, 43, 62 and 89. Heh, i'm not even getting up to 10.... I'm kind of suprised Arthur Clarcke has only one entry, and that say: Jack Vance or Greg Bear aren't in it at all.

Oh man

Narainsbrain (January 17th, 2003, 5:49 am)

I've only seen about 10% of these in a Delhi bookstore. Their SF sections are all stacked with Star Wars fanfiction... :(

Siedhr (January 17th, 2003, 8:54 am)

I take books from mIRC. don't have the money or a place to get everything i'd want to read. I can tell you how if you want to (if it's not illegal to post it here).

Semirrahge (January 17th, 2003, 4:11 pm)

Another topic for insistent wrangling. :)

But first, my prowess on the Top 100 list!

I have read:

1 (The first book, anyhow)

2 *

4 *

6 *

7 (almost - bear with me, I've read over half the nearly 30 books)

16 (YES!!! It's so awsome that this is here!)

83 (why is this so low on the list?)

Heh. That makes 15! But remember that 7 is a series (Discworld).

Ok. Warez.

I have no problem with warez. I like warez. I think it would be "legal" (well, dunno, exactly) to put links here, but. What with the file sharing nightmares going on right now, and it only looking to get worse... I say we make it another TSFE no-no. If you want to share files, do it by email or IM, not with TSFE bandwidth. This is what's known as a neutral stance. :P

* Each of these, notice, have over a THOUSAND votes each. The only book that comes close to this is #27 (The Hobbit), with 854. Aside from that, it seems the next highest is maybe 500. What does that tell you?

great list!

Gond (January 17th, 2003, 4:45 pm)

While we're keeping track, I've read 21 on the list =) But, like Semirrahge, several of these 21 are a series... Anyway, I can't wait to go to the library and check these out!

Please notice how few votes Chung Kuo by David Wingrove has? One of them is mine :P It deserves a hell of a lot more recognition.

Anyway, my read stuff:

2, 4, 6, 7, 15, 18, 19, 23, 27, 40, 42, 48, 53, 56, 60, 63, 68, 71, 83, 87, 89, 92, 100

Twenty-three, counting books in a series as one...counting each individual books within each series, it makes thirty-one plus however many are in the Discworld series...

I win :P

i have 2, 4, 6, 2 volumes of 7, 19, 27, 34, 37, 42, 45, 49, 54, 56, 63, 89. not that many. :(

Hellkeepa (January 18th, 2003, 1:04 pm)

Seems as if I got a LOT of reading to do, and then I mean a LOT!

Happy fraggin'!

Semirrahge (January 18th, 2003, 3:30 pm)

Man... How do you guys do it? I'm charging through books as fast as I can, and yet... Hmmph.

I will have to read Chung Kuo, though.

Ben (January 19th, 2003, 10:46 pm)

I've only read 14 items on the list (probably because I've read very little SF in the past 3 years or so)

2, 4, 19 (the short story version, actually), 23, 26, 27, 40, 47, 56, 58, 63, 83, 89, 98.

spinning-plates (January 27th, 2003, 10:25 pm)

I've read 13
